This makes me think about how when I told ppl I was moving to Mexico they gave me a lot of Pearl clutching about safety. In some states, especially those close to the border, there are certainly cartels to be aware of, as well as a notable presence of police corruption all the way from the ones you’d meet on the street to the gov’t.
The thing is, I have to tell people: America is exactly the same. The only difference is better PR.
Considering that not only can you never buy your way out of a traffic stop, but you’re actually likely to die during one esp if you’re black, it’s notably worse IMO.
